[The feed kicks in to the sound of a man clearing his throat. He seems a little unsure of what he's about to say.]
Hullo, hullo. Welcome newcomers.
[Man, what a classy intro that was. So smooth, Joseph!]
For those of y'that I haven't met, my name is Joe. I man the kitchen here and I'm the one that put together the shit-awful feast you had on your first night here.
M'sorry fer that. At the time I was short staffed, unprepared and tired as fock. The good news, is that I've caught up on my beauty sleep and whatever I make from here on in sure as hell won't suck quite so bad.
Y'can find me in the kitchens more often than not, otherwise, try the bar or out by the lake. If any of you have any cookin' experience or want to help out, I'd more than welcome it. The more help I get, the better yer food is gonna be.
[Silence falls while Joe runs over what he's just said.]
Right. I think that's about it. Come say hello or somethin'.
[Fin.]

Ah, y'found me. Good work.
[Wiping his hands on a dishcloth, the Irishman starts towards her and offers a hand to shake.]
Joseph Ivers, at yer service.
Commentlog
I'm Bryn. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Ivers.
[Her gaze keeps skittering away from his as she takes in the sights of the kitchen. It's easier than holding eye-contact with the charming man.
To the untrained eye, it appears immense and full of things that Bryn couldn't even begin to put a name to.]
I've never seen a kitchen area so large before...
Commentlog
Ach, just Joe will do, lass. Formality and I have never really got along so let's just keep it simple, aye? And no 'Sir' either. Got enough of that in the military to last me a lifetime.
[The smile creeps back onto his face as he looks back to the kitchen. It's twice the size of the last place he worked at and far more looked after. He's done a lot of work to it in the time he's been at the Keep, and right now Joe can feel nothing but pride.]
Ain't it a beauty?
[He runs a hand across the top of one of the long benches. The kitchen is made of up two large benches central with more benches lining the walls. There's pots and pans and an excellent collection of knives and a large double sink. Over a fire brews a large pot of, goodness knows what but doesn't it smell delicious?]
Commentlog
Sorry. Of course, Joe.
[She follows his hands as he runs them over the benches, and continues past to the walls, allowing herself a chance to get a more thorough look. Some items are recognizable at second glance, though she wouldn't begin to know what they're for or how to use them.]
It's quite impressive. I wouldn't know the first thing about how to keep it all straight. Do you...do you suppose it would be easy to learn a few things here or there? Something helpful?
[She'd like to learn to cook but the last thing she wants to do is get in the way and become a hindrance.]
Commentlog
If you want to learn to cook, Bryn, all y'got to do is ask.
Commentlog
It wouldn't be too much trouble would it?
Commentlog
Not a problem at all, lass. If anything, you learnin' to cook is something I should be thanking you for. With this many people in the Keep, doin' all this on my own is more work than I can manage.
[At least without a proper nights sleep beforehand.]
Commentlog
Pleased, she offers a smile.]
Well if you're sure, then I'd love to learn, especially if I can be of some use...is there a specific time when it would be best for me to come in?
Commentlog
[Joe is pleased to have an apprentice again.]
Commentlog
[Handling knives and hot pans while getting sleepy doesn't seem smart, all things considered.]
Commentlog
[He smiles at her and then asks the fated question.]
So uh... how's life in the Keep goin' for ya so far? Settlin' in well? No one givin' you any trouble I hope.
Commentlog
[With a sheepish smile, she shrugs. Bryn doesn't talk about how her room makes her feel a little claustrophobic, or how it's hard to sleep with it so quiet and still inside. She definitely doesn't mention how it's odd to be walking around as a human for such a long period of time.]
...I don't suppose you know what the woods outside the keep are like, do you?
Commentlog
They're pretty, or at least I reckon they are. Whole lot of animals runnin' around out there but nothin' too dangerous. It's a good place to walk when you need a break. Time out zone.
[Generally Joe takes a boat out to go fishing when he needs a breather, but the forest is another awesome place to go.]
Little deer runnin' around out there and all.
Commentlog
Really? Deer? Does anyone ever go hunting in there to bring one back for dinner? I've...heard that venison can be quite good when it's fresh.
[Her mouth isn't already watering, shut up.]
Commentlog
Joe doesn't react, keeping his usual contented attitude to the front. He nods his head at the mention of venison.]
Aye, it is. Dos has brought buck in before. Not often, but worth the effort when he does.
[Joe offers a small, playful smile.]
If yer plannin' on catching one, then good luck to ye. They're speedy little bastards on their bad days, faster again when they're alert.
[He makes no mention of the fangs.]
Commentlog
So yes, the deer are cute and furry, they just happen to also be delicious.]
I've...I've got a trick or two up my sleeve. I might be able to get one. If I do, will you show me how to cook it?
Commentlog
As I said, good luck to ye. It's been a while since there's been venison on the menu... If you can bring me one, I'll show ya how to go about it.
[He's pretty pleased with this whole conversation. New person, cute girl, apprentice, the thought of Bryn running around trying to catch an ever-elusive deer... Joe can't help but be happy with the day.]
